Visit to the ASIA MINOR HELLENISM Exhibition at the Benaki Museum

Bernitsas Law, colleagues and friends visited the ASIA MINOR HELLENISM: Heyday – Catastrophe – Displacement – Rebirth Exhibition at the Benaki Museum.

Ms Evita Arapoglou, curator and art historian, gave us a fascinating tour of the history of Asia Minor Hellenism through works of art, icons, ecclesiastical, war and personal heirlooms and many other items. A relaxed and cheerful evening followed where we shared thoughts personal stories, wine and finger food.

The commemorative exhibition marking the centennial anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe is organised by the Benaki Museum and the Center for Asia Minor Studies and is held under the Patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The exhibition includes more than 1,000 exhibits and over 500 photographs bringing to life the heyday of Hellenism before the persecutions, the dramatic period between 1919 and 1923 as well as the settlement and integration of the Asia Minor refugees in Greece.
