Bernitsas Law Culture Journeys 2024 Vol.1 : Visit to the ‘Chaeronea, 2 August 338 BC: A day that changed the world’ Exhibition at the Museum of Cycladic Art

Bernitsas Law, colleagues, family members and friends had the opportunity to visit the ‘Chaeronea, 2 August 338 BC: A day that changed the world’ Exhibition at the Museum of Cycladic Art.

The archeologists and assistant curators Metaxia Routsi and Marietta Kypriotaki gave us captivating tours through one of the most important historical events of Greek antiquity – the battle of Chaeronea that brought Alexander the Great onto the political stage and laid the foundations for the creation of the modern world.

Following the insightful tours, we enjoyed a relaxed and cheerful evening at the charming Cycladic Café & Foyer, where we engaged in conversations, laughter, and indulged in wine and finger food.

The exhibition organized by the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens in collaboration with the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, is part of the 'Human Histories' series aiming to narrate stories from ancient times that influenced later generations. It focuses on the Battle of Chaeronea, a significant event that marked the transition from the Classical to the Hellenistic period and is presented under the supervision of the Scientific Directors of the Museum Dr. Panagiotis Iossif, Professor at the Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands, and Dr. Ioannis Fappas, Assistant Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
